Do you spend time with yourself?

We gather with friends and family, we check social media constantly and swipe through countless people’s stories and posts, we grab a coffee and chat with the barista.

We connect with other people all the time— either online or in person, and we exchange thoughts and energy.

Often I think- “It’s been a while since I’ve talked with (insert friend’s name), I should really make time for that”.

But do I spend enough time with myself? Quality time, that is.

As I was sitting down to enjoy my dinner, I was debating whether to call a friend or watch a show while I eat.

Then I thought- wait, why do I need to do that?

Can I just sit in my quiet home and be with my own thoughts?

So I decided to enjoy my meal with myself by myself- no TV or phone distracting me, no conversations with anyone but myself.

It sounds so simple. Yet for a lot of us- hard to do.

We are addicted to distractions, and nowadays, more than ever- we consume other people’s thoughts and energy (via social media).

All that could be draining.

Energy is real and we should cherish it, protect it.

Do not underestimate the calming effects of sitting in silence.

Meditation does not always mean sitting with your legs crossed and your eyes closed.

To me, meditation is any time of the day when I sit with myself and just be.

Whether that’s during a meal, with your morning coffee, or taking your dog for a walk- those are precious moments that we should not take for granted.

We listen to and consume other people’s thoughts constantly.

It feels refreshing to clear your head throughout the day.

This is a chance to collect ourselves, re-energize, and reset.

Try and make more time for yourself by yourself.

Those moments will often inspire you.
